Challenge: When the Super Bowl came to Minneapolis in 2018, agencies across town were competing for the coolest experiential activation to grab press and tourist attention. How could we align with the Bold North theme and treat the cold and snow of February in Minnesota like a feature, not a bug.
Solution: Give tourists from around the country a souvenir they couldn’t get anywhere else: Real Minnesota Snowballs. We packaged snowballs in a re-skinned vending machine and sold them for $1. Each snowball was hand packaged and labeled with the date. The vending machine was placed outside a boutique hotel and ice bar near our office. We made $900 to donate to a local charity.
